Unity and Variety (Clothing Style)

Image
All these photos were taken using an Iphone Camera and the Photoshop app. Reflection:         This project is simple in it's idea. My idea was to show unity and variety through photographing different styles of clothes. This is a new idea I thought of when I was talking to one of my friends about clothing. He had an interest in clothes and he was telling me how everyone has their own specific style even if you wear the same thing. It was actually an interesting idea and I noticed that even though people can wear the same type of clothing, they would bring their own twist/taste on the style. This idea is completely new as I just came up with it last week. My challenges have been finding the right people to photograph from each group. I noticed that cliques all tend to wear similar styles of clothing. So I would have to find someone different from each clique. My successes have been being able to become friends with new people and thus, finding the...

Color (Hot Rods)

Image
All these photos were taken using an Iphone Camera and the Photoshop app. Reflection:           My idea for this project was to show color through photographing Hot Rods. Hot Rods are cars older than 1964 that have been modified by it's body or engine. Anyway, these cars often have flashy unique colors that differ from the usual dull colors on newer cars. These photos were taken at the Big 3 Auto Swapmeet during Feb 23-25. This is a new idea, I had thought of it a few weeks ago when I remembered the biggest auto swapmeet of the year was the weekend before my project was due and I wanted to incorporate this event into one of my projects. My challenges were getting to Qualcomm Stadium for the swapmeet since I had to work Friday and Saturday. But it all ended up fine. I had lots of success photographing all the cars. I also knew what angles were good to photograph because I have known automotive photographers since I was young. I will not cont...

Motion (Handball)

Image
Motion All these photos were taken using iPhone cameras. They all are snapshots of players in motion. They are not staged. Reflection:           My idea for my first project is called motion. I decided to show motion through the game that we play at PLHS called Handball. Through this, it is easy to capture motion because the game is fast-paced and involves players to have good speed and quick reaction timing for a short period of time.  This idea was something new and different that I wanted to try out. There are lots of pictures of motion shown through cars driving or long exposure but none through the pictures shown above. My challenges have been getting good pictures that show all the movement in the picture in one shot. Another challenge was the frequency of people playing handball. This year there aren’t a lot of handball players so my variety is a little more limited. Despite these challenges, I have found some success through ...

Hobbies (Guitar)

Image
Guitar These photos were all taken using an iPhone Camera. They are a series of different expressions people have while playing guitar. In the first photograph, you have a happy relaxed player. The second picture is deceptive, his head isn't resting on the guitar because he is lazy, it is because he is listening closely and following the notes. Now the third and fourth pictures both share the common expression of people being focused on their playing. The final picture is 3 guys interested in playing the guitar and naturally smiling and talking about it. Reflection:           This idea was very experimental and turned out differently than I expected. I wanted to experiment with taking pictures of people playing the guitar to try and capture the emotion/focus they put into while playing. You can probably infer that one of my hobbies is playing the guitar and luckily I take a guitar class as one of my electives. This idea is ...
