Hobbies (Guitar)
Guitar
These photos were all taken using an iPhone Camera. They are a series of different expressions people have while playing guitar. In the first photograph, you have a happy relaxed player. The second picture is deceptive, his head isn't resting on the guitar because he is lazy, it is because he is listening closely and following the notes. Now the third and fourth pictures both share the common expression of people being focused on their playing. The final picture is 3 guys interested in playing the guitar and naturally smiling and talking about it.
Reflection:
This idea was very experimental and turned out differently than I expected. I wanted to experiment with taking pictures of people playing the guitar to try and capture the emotion/focus they put into while playing. You can probably infer that one of my hobbies is playing the guitar and luckily I take a guitar class as one of my electives. This idea is entirely new to me, I thought of it while playing guitar in class and seeing each person play in their own way. My challenges have been me remembering to take pictures, for a week I would forget to take pictures every time I went to class. Another challenge was finding the right time to photograph individuals during class. My successes were capturing the expressions and focus people have while playing. I whittled it down from people being straight up bored to people who actually put their energy into playing. Another success was being able to talk up and be friendly with all the people I photographed. I found it made the situation more comfortable and everyone seemed to have a good time. I won’t continue with this idea because it did not turn out the way I expected and it was an experiment.
Great work. Are these from the guitar class here at PL? Let me know, would love to use some for the yearbook.
